I love San Pedro and just returned from my sixth(and perhaps, best)trip.I stayed at turtleman's house 3 glorious nights.I admit I was a bit leery of the "compost toilet" and such, but it was not a problem. The actual house over the water was very cozy and clean and the bed was very comfortable.I cannot praise the Smith family enough.Their warmth, kindness, hospitality and genuine love of the environment is so evident.I felt like a member of their family within an hour of my arrival. All meals are eaten in their house.Rosemary and Greg are both amazing cooks!Every evening around 5pm Greg would spearfish.Soon after, the freshest fish I have ever eaten was on my plate.Fresh fruit, homemade granola, yogurt, bread and (last but not least)papaya chutney were in abundance.I took a jar of the chutney home with me.It is being rationed. That is how delicious it is.Everything they served was fabulous.Their 3 children are simply amazing.I enjoyed spending time with all 3,and got to know them quite well. The main reason I initially wanted to stay there was the close proximity to the reef-it is a short swim to Basil Jones, one of the most wonderful areas I have ever seen.I literally snorkeled all day.The reason I will return are a combo of the reef and the family.Next time I plan to stay with them for a week!Everyone should have the experience of staying way up north with them.Truly a vacation from a vacation!
