Jason Reyes charged for stabbing death of San Pedro resident

Two days after a vicious stabbing in San Pedro ended the life of twenty-three year old Lionel Pinelo, police have a suspect in custody. Today, twenty-one year old Jason Reyes, a resident of the Boca Del Rio area, was arraigned for Murder in the San Pedro Magistrate Court. No plea was taken on the indictable charge and Reyes was remanded to the Belize Central Prison in Hattieville until December eighth when he will reappear in court. Reports are that Pinelo and his friends were involved in an altercation with three men outside Rainbow Bar at about nine-thirty on Friday night. Two hours after that argument, Pinelo was with four friends on a golf cart when they crossed paths with the same men at Compadres Bar.

One of the three threw a bottle at them and Pinelo’s group confronted the men. But they were outnumbered when four others joined their rivals. A huge fight erupted and Pinelo was stabbed with a broken bottle to the left rib cage. He was first rushed to the Ambergris Hopes Clinic where a doctor recommended that due to the severity of his injuries, he should be transferred to the K.H.M.H. But Pinelo succumbed to the stab wound early Saturday morning.

SF Jeff, if you just listen to my reports from San Pedro you would know better and that i have more than one advertisers. But you are simlpy one of those people that jump to conclusion without gathering your facts. You should be happy that a few business are willing to sponsor the news reports to keep like YOU informed. Be thankful.

wasn't jumping to any conclusion. meant no criticism whatsoever. Personally, I'm glad for all the news outlets available on the island. We could stand to use some better news at times, but that's a different thread...
