We are the new owners of the OLD Pier Lounge. We have remodeled the place and are renaming the bar WAHOO’S LOUNGE… Come on down and check out the new look.
This note is to also inform you and your guests that we have changed the WORLD FAMOUS CHICKEN DROP to run on THURSDAYS to be neighborly to the church next door who worships on Wednesdays. Our first one this Thursday December 23rd.
Join us on Facebook/Wahoo’s Lounge Belize for updates and events. We are planning many exciting new promotions as well as bringing back some of the old island favorites such as King/Queen of the Beach and the Pirate Party!

it is best to come at 6pm. We usually do about 4 drops.

I hope the tourist folks who have been coming to island for years and reading every book, magazine, publication, blog or trip report ever written about the island for the last 25 years don't show up on a Wednesday for the Chicken Drop. I would fire the marketing director but what do I know.

It's a great marketing strategy to have people come by and spend money on Wednesday and then come back for the main event on Thursday.

Disagree...that's messing with your customers.

Change can be challenging to some, but there are many many traditions that even though they were “always that way” we are all thankful they eventually changed such as women voting, slavery, dog fighting (wish this one would change faster), just to name a few.
After much deliberation we decided to change to the biggest event we have too one of the four days the church is closed. This way we don’t have to turn off the music between 7pm and 8pm. We lost customers that way.
We picked Thursday because there wasn’t whole lot else on the island to do that day at 6pm, and also because if they do come on Wednesday we can just tell them to return tomorrow. It is a small island and not too much out of the way for most folks. We also let all the resort managers know via email, as well as the BTB and Trip Advisor.
Thank you all for your understanding. We would greatly appreciate any efforts to let everyone know.

I heard several comments last week by people who think it's a bad marketing strategy to change both the name of a famous brand (Pier Lounge) and a 20-year tradition (Wed. night drop). Hope it works out. Is the name change "Wahoo" absolutely definite? I still saw plenty of "Pier Lounge" signs, but want to put the most current name/schedule in my book.

Thanks for the inquiry! The name change wasn't a choice. As usual things in life and business can be complicated.
The name is Wahoo's and the CHICKEN DROP night is THURSDAY! We will do our best to get an event calender finalized by the end of the month.

We thought for nostalgia reasons we'd leave an old "pier" sign up. This I hope, will also help with the "marketing strategy" of letting people know it is the same location.

I registered/Gazzetted/trademarked the name "Pier Lounge" years ago. It was transfered to the new owners. I would assume it would still be transferrable? I have a copy somewhere if you want it.
