The 66' rule is officially correct. Belize is rife with nepotism, be it on family loyalty grounds or financial favors. Obviously, you would be hard pressed to find a spot on Caye Caulker where this rule is not bent. I have seen locals usurp boat docking frontage directly in front of land their relatives sold as waterfront. The Gov. can be bought at any level.
Recently people on the north island with waterfront lots were displaced by more waterfront lots dredged up directly in front of them,cutting them off from the sea. Caveat emptor.
