What if taxis charged by the TIME instead of the distance - how slow do you think they could go?

It's 'both' in most of the cabs I ride in when in the States.

I'm sorry, but if the Taxi cab drivers here had brains they probably wouldn't be cruising/ speeding recklessly around town all day in their gas-hogging vans with air conditioners blasting. Usually with their entire family on board. Couldn't be very profitable....

From what I've heard the driver seldom owns the cab and a handfull of San Pedro men are the owners.

Rent is on a taxi $50 per day, coming from a driver I know. That's a big incentive to most to get where they are going as fast as they can to pick up the next fare.

Think of all the money you can make taking people/criminals up north.

Think of how much fun you could have by placing some of the strips that the cops use to stop the villains in the high speed chases. Or even a very well hidden one like they use in rental car lots to ensure that you don't drive out with one of their cars once you are in. I have lots more ideas but I don't want to mention I blankd E blank D in case the government is listening.

Addition to your suggestion: Open a tire shop just north of the "stop strip"

How about if we just keep them the heck off the North side...
