When we were down a few weeks ago, we were walking north from Belizean Cove and there was a resort (or a former resort) right around where CocoBeach (or Belizean Shores) is located. There was a large whale outside of it and it looked like it was a big thing at one time. What is the story of that resort? I noticed that some folks still lived there but the property was overgrown and the pool (and deck) was in poor shape.

The story is far too long (and possibly even too strange) for this message board -- !!

And before that 'The Belizean', also a strange story and to long for this message board.
It was elegant in its day....before the Judeo-Christian theme.

I have always been interested in the story myself. It is a beautiful piece of property, which I understand is owned by the journey's End people. Discussions from 2001:

Looks like they were never able to recover from their hurricane damage losses...

I miss stopping in for some Pauly's Pizza, especially the cinnamon sticks.

After Pauli's came Caliente's II
By far the best setting on the island for a quiet
dinner.
It seems they are selling off properties to north and south but the center part remains and I see the owner and family periodically.
It's also a great place for a wedding--has it's own church.
The whale is a biblical thing. Jonah and all that I am guessing.
I think it's time for Caliente's Dos to return. What do ya' say Jenny?

Caliente's is now owned by the Blue Water folks. I think Jenny is at Elvi's?

Looked in the church when we were there last week and it is being used for storage. No pews etc were visible.
