Hi we are heading down for three weeks and just wondering how the mosquitoes are this time of year? One of our party is planning on taking malaria pills just in case... Any advice from those of you living there?

lots of advice been shared over time on mosquitos and malaria pills. I asked quite a few on my first visit. Not a local, so I won't claim to know much. Your decision to use malaria pills should be carefully considered. I will tell you that if you will spend nearly all your time on the caye in late January / early February, malaria pills will be considered by most to be overkill.

Wear clothes at dawn and dusk and lubricate with skin-so-soft. Malaria pills are recommended only if you absolutely need them, which you don't.

Are you saying that I should stop running around naked at dawn and dusk? Sorry but the comment about wearing clothes was just begging that response! LOL

Yep - please everybody hide your ta-tas and booties at dawn and dusk. Probably should ask the US State Department to issue an advisory to that effect.

I have three mossie bites from last night. Guess either tatas or booty and you'll have a 50/50 chance of being right. (no prizes awarded for correct answers, btw )
