[Linked Image] It has only been operational for a couple weeks now but Belizeans are quickly becoming aware of the exceptional service offered by Belize's newest water taxi agency, Water Jets Xpress.

Water Jets Xpress is the cheapest water taxi agency in the country. It started operations with an incredible two week promotion which started on Friday, August 20 and ends on Friday, September 3. During this promotion, customers can travel to Caye Caulker for $20 round trip and $15 one way. A trip to San Pedro is only $30 round trip and $20 one way. To put this in perspective, competing water taxi agencies charge $30 one way to San Pedro; $60 round trip; $20 one way to Caye Caulker and $40 round trip. Though the prices are expected to be set after the promotion, management explains that it will still have by far the lowest fares in towns.

Water Jets Express is stationed at the entrance of Bird's Isle. It has runs from Belize City to San Pedro at 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Runs from San Pedro to Belize City are at 6 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Each trip stops at Caye Caulker. There are also runs from San Pedro to Chetumal.

Does this mean that there are now 3 water taxi companies going between Belize City and Caye Caulker and San Pedro?

If you go over with this company, be sure to have lunch at Bird's Isle. A hidden gem to be sure.

Catsandra, You will be ported outside of Belize City. You will most likely NOT have time to take a water taxi anywhere, unless you want to just turn around and go back. As Simon mentioned in your previous post, you are taking a big chance as the cruise ship will depart with or without you.

You will come ashore at the Tourist Village in Belize City. I don't know if you can go directly from the ship to any other destination -- ask on board.

See the list of water taxi services in my previous post. The San Pedro - Belize Water Taxi terminal and the Caye Caulker Water Taxi terminal are a short walk from where you come ashore (maybe less than 500 metres).

Caye Caulker is a small island north-east of Belize City. A water taxi takes about 1 hour (or a bit less) to get there, and an hour (or a bit less) to get back.

The websites have the schedules & fares so you can see if you have time for the trip.
