Its the old Driftwood. Its located on the north island on the west side. The doors you see are the bathrooms. If I remember right they have 2 cabanas as well. It has been closed for a couple years now.

The place will be reopened but not as a hotel but as a nightlife place as stated above, a party spot.

That brings back memories of going home after dark swimming with my clothes in one hand above my head.
The bridge killed all that romance and adventure ;-)

The bridge killed a lot of things. But I sure would like to have a picture of you Elbert - swimming the cut. Just where did you live then?

The last club died in a big part because of the shuttles being so erratic at first. He did not know that Caye Caulker people have a long held custom of not going out in the night in our boats.Scheduled shuttles which run on time even if they are empty is absolutely needed from the first day so that people will trust them.

I watched and participated a little as this place was built, opened, came and went. The access is the big issue. There are many clubs on the south island to hop to and from, literally, on foot. This will be the only one that can't be walked to.
Dane is dead right about priority one being access if they expect to make it. It just barely caught on in the daylight when local boat owners were half or more of the patrons.
I would have 2 boats, one at each island, passing each other as the water taxis do, running lights a must. Little relatively cheap, hand held GPS units hardwired into the 12 volt battery system, would be a big plus on moonless, cloudy nights.
Then it's a simple matter of following the dotted line. Navigating the shallows around the delta shaped flats on both sides are a problem in the dark.
I see locals cut across the flats too soon on a low tide in broad daylight and get stuck.
This may sound daunting economically, but it takes money to make money. I lived on CC for a few years and I figured it might be tough to get daytime people over there, night-lifers are going to be even harder with all the more accessible options.
I wish them the best of luck, sincerely, I don't like to see anyone's hard work and ambitions fall by the wayside!

This place brings back a memory for me. A couple years ago my wife & I borrowed one of Tom's kayak's & paddled up the west side of the north end. We spotted this deserted old resort & I couldn't resist having a look around. Well I was nosing around right up beside the building when a couple large dogs suddenly noticed me & let me know it very loudly. Scared the s#%t out of me. Luckily they were contained inside the bottom of the structure by fencing. But I didn't realize that until I was back to the kayak. I didn't know I could run that fast.

Those dogs would have been Bo and Kara... and the "deserted old resort" was actually built in 2007! We used to go and string up our hammock, play backgammon and skinnydip (to the amusement of crew and customers on a passing Raggamuffin boat one day) at the end of the dock. Gunter Mathieu the chef from Driftwood now owns Mathieu's Delicatessen in San Pedro. Hope the Full moon party is a great success! As for shuttles over... arrive there when it's light.... and leave when it's sun up!

@ Phil.... the "narrow rooms" are the "little girl's room" and the "little boy's room".... not usually rented out for dozing in....!

It's always interesting to see tourist looking over things. You should realize the buildings you decide are old and abandoned are really owned by people. Some used only occasionally some have been boarded up in anticipation of future occupancy. I know that about a week ago some tourists used my front porch for a BBQ leaving me their beer bottles and using my grill. I'm not sure why the tourist think the can go wherever they want even if it is private property. I doubt they would appreciate my using there house for a party. Just an observation. Of course, the 3 young ladies that used the deck about a month ago to sunbath topless weren't so hard to take. Unfortunately it wasn't me that discovered them. My friend who did discover them was quite shocked. He didn't find their behavior acceptable.

Was in CC and did checked out the North side. Swam across during the day. As a night club with shuttles would be great.
Over in Canada, I organize camping parties with 60+ people around the camp fire. Dancing in a remote island would be interesting.

I was in CC during Xmas and New Year. Planned to stay one week and stayed 3 weeks.
Wish you the best, I am planning to come back again next Christmas and I will check out the place again.
