Seriously, it's great to have a plan. You have a plan. Each of those steps sounds reasonable, in a first world country. It is very hard to predict the outcome of each step here. I hope it goes OK.
Just one hint, chain link fence doesn't work well here. It rusts too fast. Also, if your idea for putting up the fence is to protect your property, it won't work well. People hop fences easily here. If someone is building or putting building materials on a lot here, we usually build a bodega, and install a caretaker.

Welcome back GwenA,
I have chain link Fence and it is galvanized coating(not cheap stuff) and it is still in good shape. I installed it 15 Years ago. Use wood or concrete posts, the galvanized posts seem to rust quickly and will need to be replaced. Your plan is good, plan B and C is always helpful (sure u know).Good luck, your off to a good start

yuk. Chain link is ugly and looks commercial not residential. Go local style and build a wood picket fence.

Plant sawgrass and have a natural green-fence that needs no care at all. When it matures it will provide a better barrier to traffic and have a prettier privacy effect than any man-made fence.

How big does sawgrass get and how long does it take to mature ?

Sawgrass can grow 25 feet tall, but that takes time, lots of nutrients - and it generally does not get that tall right by the sea-edge. They do fine in the wind and salt but closer to the sea they tend to be shorter.

Most will grow to about 10 feet in a period of 5 years - they propagate like crazy and thicken into something you can trim nicely like a hedge. You can start with bits from friends and neighbors who are thinning theirs. Bunches up to 4 feet tall will survive a transplant if you keep their feet wet after moving them.
The cutting edges on the leaves make them incredibly effective fences.

Thanks for the info, what is the spacing for planting a hedge?
Can you get it at the Nursery?

I don't think you can (or need to) get it at a nursery - find it wild or get some from friends. If you find a stand of it the baby plants are in the ga-zillions on the stalks.

Space the larger plants about 5 feet apart - or more if they already have big leaf shoots.
