Our radio/alarm clock went out and was thinking of a good "emergency radio" that would work on the Island....something that would pick up NOAA advisories, etc. Any suggestions?

This year I bought a radio from Radio Shack that has weather alarms, 7 weather channels, hand crank when the batteries die, cell phone charger and a flashlight. Problem is, it doesn't pick up a single weather radio station. frown

That's what I'm afraid of......I'm assuming most of them are geared to the US.......there must be some that work in other countries.

I bought this one in Chetumal Mexico so I assumed it would work.

What type of radio do you recommend?

Bass Pro shops sells a cheap handcrank/solar radio. Eton Microlink FR160. I think I paid under $20US. Will also do a few minute charge on your cell phone for emergencies and has a flashlight. Probably the same one JZB has.

Just a note. Last time I cranked it up was in September, just turned on the radio and checked the flashlight and both are working fine.

Just AM/FM there is no weather broadcast in Belize to the best of my knowledge.

FM stations 88.9 or 107.9 report news and weather at 6:45am, 12:30pm and 7pm.
