And while that was the weekend third traffic fatality, there could have been a fourth. It happened around 6 o'clock on Saturday evening on the Western Highway, just a couple yards away from Old Belize.

According to the driver of the vehicle, he was traveling to Belize City when a horse veered onto the highway, into his lane.

The driver said there was no way he could have avoided hitting the horse since there was oncoming traffic in the other lane. The vehicle crashed head-on into the horse. According to the driver he received bruises to the forehead and arm and internal bleeding, while his three passengers received minor injuries. The horse was killed.

Today he told 7news the accident could have been far worse and that he plans on suing the owner of the horse.
