This has a drastic effect on tours. Prices are set for the year in a variety of ways such as contracts, wholesale prepaid and advertisements so it will be very difficult and complicated to raise prices this year.20% increase in fuel prices this year is relative to how much you spend on fuel. If you operate boats for tours as Ambergris Caye does, its a huge dollar amount this 20% increase becomes. GST is deductible and stopping it at this point just raises the price even further as the guys on the dock called it ,"A double screw!" if you add the fact prices for tours are fixed for the year then I call it a Triple Screw!

Changing the way we do business will be the outcome. New innovative ways of getting the job done and differing pick up and delivery expenses.

Fewer tourists will be able to go out on tours requiring a boat as well, I suspect. Minimum numbers of guests per trip will most likely have to be increased in order to make up for the increase in fuel costs.

More than likely it will raise the price of diving and snorkeling all over the island starting next year.

I dont understand. Our PM has told us there will be no tax increase but as sure as I am writing this my GST tax bill will be much higher. I guess this is just cutesy nice talk or maybe just a simple lie. The PM knew exactly what he had in mind for us all and chose to not tell the truth. He knows our GST bills will go up, thats why he did it. He can say he did not raise tax rates but he sure as hell raised our taxes, its like a stupid little game. AND JR. where is he? The impacts this will have on our country have not been considered. This government has no clue as to how to stimulate the economy and increase the tax base.
Why can we not have honest leaders that do not try to deceive the public? We are not as stupid as they think. We are all going to pay big time for this stupidity. The effects will be felt long before next year. This will effect ever business in Belize in a big, negative way. For many it may be the straw that broke the camels back. What was he thinking, anything?
