Women from the Corozal and Orange Walk districts are this week being trained on how to process soy sauce. The three-day practical training is being conducted at the Ministry of Agriculture compound in Corozal town. Love News spoke by telephone with Charles Bacab who is the Coordinator of Agro-Processing with the Ministry of Agriculture. According to Bacab, the training is covering basic procedures from handling, cooking, fermenting until the final process of the material. A total of 10 women groups both from Orange Walk and Corozal district are taking part. Bacab says that after the training wraps up, the women will not just be left on their own, because the Cooperatives Department is also a partner in this process. This week's training in how to process soy sauce is in line with the Ministry of Agriculture's Platform of Food Security which focuses on rural development and the concept of the "Farm Family”.
