Planing our first trip to AC, first wk in Aug. Staying at Ramones. This board been a great source of info for us, been reading it for a couple of mo's now.Looks like everybody likes food in AC but from what I can gather it is mostly seafood, Mexican-spanish or US southern type. What are the chances of getting a good meal for somebody who does not eat any kind of fish and not crasy on Mexican type food (including rice and beans)? Can you get good Yankee "cook it to death" meat-potato-gravy type dinner, like your grandmother from the Old Country used to make or any Continental? Also another dumb question, do the hotels in AC provide toiletries in the bathroom or you need to bring your own? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

The ladies at the Hideaway are from Texas and do a good job with The Southern style cooking. Also make "outstanding Pizza"!!

little wolf..be sure to try Papi's Diner, on Front Street(I think) by the "cut" in the river. Great fried chicken breast sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, great breakfast foods..eggs,bacon,ham.Also delicious soups, shrimp and fish. Elvi's has steaks, but we don't recommend them (unless things have changed since last September).. they were really tough! Don't worry.. you will find plenty of food to your liking!

We stayed at Ramon's last month and our room was pretty well equipped. Very nice place. We'd stay there again in a minute

We had a beachfront lower level (#25 I think) and it was nice. Even the garden and seaside rooms were nice looking in my opinion though. Nicely kept gardens and such, all within a 5 second walk to the beach, bar, and pool. The pool is beautiful, but the pictures of it make it look deceivingly large. Its funny, I have to give credit to the photographer who took the pictures of the pool in their website. When I saw it for the first time, It blew my mind. It looked like a miniature version of the one in the website!
