The San Pedro Sailing Club is hosting an event on Sunday June 12th,
starting at 11:00 am at Caribbean Villas Hotel. The San Pedro Sailing
Club in coordination with the Belize Sailing Association, a registered
charity, are inviting all the children of San Pedro to the beach at
Caribbean Villas for the revealing of San Pedro’s very own Optimist
fleet (small sailing boats).

The overall goal of the SPSC is to offer free sailing lessons to any
child interested in learning. The goal for this event is to introduce
children (and adults!) to sailing, and to foster their interest.

The students will be able to see first hand the boats and witness a
number of demonstration races. Also and more IMPORTANTLY they will be
able to register their interest with us so we can work out the
logistics of completing the initial phases of the training program. If
your students like what they see and show an interest please ask them
to look out for the registration table, located on the beach, where we
will be taking their names and ages.

There will also be an information desk where details of how the
training will be coordinated and we will be able to discuss our aims
and ambitions for the children of San Pedro. The key ones currently
are to get a San Pedrano to represent Belize in the Optimist World
Championship 2012 (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic) and ultimately the
Olympics in 2016.

Many other activities have also been laid on to make sure that a fun
day will be had by all. These include;

Demonstration Sailing Races
Hobie Cats will be available
Bouncy Castle (weather permitting)
Para-sailing
Live Music
Corn Hole
Giant Jenger
