Can anyone tell me if it is fairly safe around the San Pedro Express Water Taxi in Belize City? My wife and I are arriving this Tuesday and our flight arrives at 10:30 and if we miss the 12 pm boat ride we will have to wait until the 3:00 pm taxi ride. Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

It is fairly safe, but you still have to be aware of your surroundings, watch your stuff, carry your bags close to you (lots of grab-and-run type of theft in the City), trust no one -- common sense.

The water taxi terminals are in the downtown area of the City, close to where the cruise ship visitors come ashore. On cruise ship days, the area is patrolled by the police.

However, do you have to use that water taxi service?
If you miss the 12 noon boat (which I would doubt), there are 2 other services with boats departing before 3pm. And there are flights.

Unfortunately, I do have to use the San Pedro Water Taxi service because I have prepaid for it. The belizewatertaxi.com website is the website I bought from. Do you think with my flight arriving at 10:30 am I will get there in time to catch the 12 pm ride? Thanks for the info.

I'd say that you should be out of the airport in 40 minutes, and then it's a 20 to 30 minute taxi ride to the city (depends on traffic), so you should make it.
