Deadline for nominations for the upcoming municipal and city councils election for the United Democratic Party is up. The first slate to be officially announced is the San Pedro UDP 7. The announcement was made by the Area Representative of Belize Rural South Manuel Heredia Jr. Speaking to the press on Tuesday evening, Heredia said that it was not an easy decision but in the end, democracy prevailed and the slate is now official. The UDP Mayoral Candidate is Daniel Guerrero. Coucilor Candidates are Gabriel “Gabi” Nunez, Carlos Barrientos, Kenrick Brackett, Yolanda Paraham, Guillermo “Mito” Paz and Severo “Severito” Guerrero.

Of interest to note is that all seven candidates are new in the political arena and none of the current elected town councilors’ applications were accepted as part of the UDP 7 team. The UDP Town Council Slate will be endorsed along with Heredia in a joint convention on July 9th.
