Hey folks...what is the weather like on the island? I had read that Belize is in the rainy season but it seldom rains all day and the showers are of short duration. Is that true? Should we bring panchos? We are looking forward to our trip and seeing the Mayan Ruins on the North River...anyone know anything about those?

Just got back from my first trip to San Pedro. The weather was the usual low to mid 80's but pretty windy. The only time where I needed a poncho was for a fishing excursion where I was caught out in the rain. Other than that most of the rain on the island was relatively short.

Weather is as you have read with most rainfall overnight in wet season. Also on the Caye we get significantly less rain than the mainland as we have no land mass/mountains to hold the clouds. The exception is if there is a Storm front or Tropical Wave in the area then it can rain for days on end. Bring a light rain jacket if planning mainland or all day boat trips just in case.
