Hey,

I'm Building on the island and my windows and doors are Mahogany, does anyone know of a good, long lasting stain that can be used? I like the Darker look, but am having trouble making a decision on what to use. Some have said to use teak oil but my experience is that it does not last long. Any ideas that have been used successfully before would be appreciated.

Don't use coloured varnish!
Choose a stain (Castillo's) and carefully apply it to your liking...you can wipe it off sooner for a lighter colour or leave it on longer for darker.
then when you are satisfied with the colour you can apply several coats of varnish.

don't forget that Mahogany will darken with age. We finish our wood with Cetol (comes in different color stains) and we are very happy with it.
