ACES pleas for assistance today. While we have said that there needs to be an ACES on the island, we have been putting it on the back burner because of finances. Last nights rescue warrants the immediate need of a crocodile sanctuary here on the island. This croc's jaw was broken some time ago and has healed in the manner you see here. The 6 ft reptile was living under a resident's home. ACES rescued it last night. This croc need to be in captivity so that larger crocs do not kill it. It is slightly under weight but other wise healthy. The jaw is functioning and there is no signs of infection. This is yet another croc that had lost it's fear of humans do to either direct or indirect feeding.

ANYONE interested in a permanent educational Crocodile Sanctuary to be built on their land PLEASE CALL Cherie at 666-3871 or Vince at 631-6366. ACES will have fundraisers for construction costs, apply for grants, design the facility, educate staff, and care for the crocodiles. This facility is needed immediately for three reasons: 1. To house crocs, as this one, that are injured, ill, or problematic; 2. As a facility to treat crocs that can be rehabilitated and re-released; 3. As a holding area for large problematic crocs that will eventually be re-located to the new ACES in Ladyville.

Additionally, it would hold croc's that are confiscated until they can be re-released. And finally, it would be and educational place where people can come learn about crocodiles and croc conservation for self-sustainability. You can also help by donating funds for the establishment of an ACES here on the island at americancrocodilesanctuary.org

Thank you for your support! Cherie & Vince

I would contact Joe and Tony Garel, who moved problem crocs from populated areas before anyone else and have plans for a reptile farm near Belmopan. Great, dedicated and intelligent guys who love their creatures and I have seen their plan and it looks great.

Not to try and hijack the thread, maybe it should be a separate one, but has anyone heard if the two missing children alleged, misstakingly I am sure, to be involved with the former croc sanctuary were ever located?

Probably should be another thread - the Rash children are still missing to the best of my knowledge.

Tony is maxed out on space. He's doing an emergency rescue of two crocs right now and trying to raise funding for habitats for at least 10 more Morelet's that were in inhumane conditions. But thanks for the suggestion.

While the police have not made an official statement, we heard from a local Mayan who was helping us catch George that the children were safe in their village. But then, that's how rumors get started, and look where they lead. I suggest calling an official.
