When you go on these tours, do you need hiking boots, tennis shoes or what?? We plan on going to the ruins and cave tubing; anything that comes along basically. Thanks again to anyone that answers this. You are all great. Cherie

Yes, bring some kind of sturdy shoe. Those new hiking / water shoes would be ideal. There is about a 30 minute to one hour hike to get to the tubing area. This is in jungle like terrain, and a good shoe is necessary.

We wore good sturdy sneakers on the Lamani trip and they were fine. On the cave tubing, I wore snekaers too but they do get wet! Some people wore those sturdy flip flop things, (I call them Jesus shoes). They work too.

For Ian Anderson's River cave trip, you are required to wear either tennis shoes with excellent tread or hiking boots with good tread. Reason being that you are climbing on this particular tour and it is slippery. My understanding is that you cannot do this tour without the right footwear, however, do they have a pile of hiking boots they rent out.
