(From Denise,)
We have enough money in the League for water, fruit and taxis for the kids. And since we are just starting out and are small, we really don't need money. I replied that I could wait until Nov. for a pair of shoes. Still very, very thoughtful, but I just need used soccer shoes, not money. We have all the soccer balls, cones and bibs.

I will keep you posted.
THANKS FOR RESPONSE Denise,ITS CLEAR WE NEED SHOES NOT MONEY!

I'm going to make a suggestion here for interested parties to consider: Local stateside soccer leagues are full of kids that go through a pair of sheos a year, particulrly when youre talking about kids ages 10 - 13. If you were the parent of such a child and still have some connections you might develop a few of those connections again. Workup a flyer to ask for hand me down shoes and have it circulated. I'm seeing if I cant get a few seniors at our local high school interested in doing a community services project (required for garduation) to seek donations, get the shoes, write an airlines for free cargo as a charitable donation, obtain the appropriate letters or documents that will get them through Bz customs, work with Tim to get them on Tropic or Maya and lift them to the island.

Last year I brought a duffle bag of school supplies, art supplies, etc. down for Be Kind Belize and I contacted the Ministry of Finance.

Had to supply them with an itemized list with costs of what I was bringing down and explained who it was for, etc. They sent me a letter and customs was a breeze.

I think I still have the name of the person I contacted. Feel free to PM for the info if you want to go that route.

FYI: It did take me about 2 months of e-mailing back and forth from when I originally requested the letter to when I actually recieved it in the mail.

Hi Tim,

Just got off the phone with SPTC and here is what they will do. If anyone wants to bring down more than a couple of shoes, I will need to know their names, the number of shoes, and when they are arriving. I take this information to SPTC they will do the form with the ministry of finance so no one would have to pay duties. I would then either fax this to the persons who would be donating or scan it in and email, so they would have this document on them when they arrive at International and then they would give the letter to customs.

Again, this would only be for someone who is bringing in a large amount.

Thanks Denise
