My husband and I want to move to Belize. We both come from very different backgrounds and both have different experience and education. I have been a paramedic for 13 years, I can teach all kinds of emergency medicine topics, I can coordinate emergency response plans, etc... I am also a phlebotomist and a photographer. My husband is a pipe welder with lots of experience in different industrial settings. He works in the maintenance department of a chemical demiliterization facility while I work at the same job site in the medical department. My husband also is a chef. (He did go to culinary school.) Anyway... We really do want to move to Belize but we aren't sure what we can do there to generate money. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Chef and photographer probably work better than the other skills in terms of wayt to make a living in a tourist area. We really really do want EMT's in our neighborhoods - but its not going to be a paid thing. NEMO wants you! MAYBE the EMT thing could eventually work into a job in terms of training or work with Red Cross or something. With so many skills you should find something useful and practical to do. The thing is you will need money to get by for a year or so while you sort out daily life and while the community begins to see that you will stick around. You'll need work papers, immigration status --- all this takes time.

If you need to generate money as a condition to moving to Belize, forget it.
If you have enough saved to live in Belize for a year, and that amount will vary considerably depending on where in Belize, and still have enough left to relocate back if you decide to, then take a year vacation in Belize and go from there.

Thank you both for your response! We will be able to get by comfortably for at least a year. I am just wondering what skills are actually needed in Belize. What good or service could we offer that in time would generate a sustainable income for living a semi low maintenance lifestyle there?

Annual living costs, and to some extent the type of work that would be available, depends to a large extent on where in Belize you plan on living. Just as in the US, the costs to live on the beach in the Hamptons on Long Island is much more than in a trailor park in the Ozarks.
I hope you have done your homework on estimating your costs to live for a year in whatever part of Belize you are considering.
