One aspect of Ambergris marine (and terrestrial fro that matter) ecology that has fascinated me are the turtlegrass beds. One for the simple reason that they constitute a huge biomass and two they play a huge part in the "function" of our lagoons and inner reef areas. Nursery, forage, and shore stabilization are a few that pop to mind but also I suspect they can in a limited way assist in the removal of excess nutrients present in the runoff. I'm new to these ecosytems but I'm open to any and all information about this incredible plant and the importance it has to not only Ambergors but the coast of belize as a whole.
