The Placencia BTIA will host its 13th annual Placencia Fishermen’s Day Saltwater Tournament the weekend of September 10th & 11th. This two day tournament will be the focal point of activities that will take place all weekend long at Placencia’s historic point and main dock. With more than $8000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, crews will head out at 5 am each day to try their fishermen’s luck! Anglers will be seeking the largest qualifying fish for the barracuda, jack, and kingfish categories and the highest scoring extraordinary fish (dorado, tuna or wahoo). Boats that bring in qualifying fish in each of the barracuda, jack & kingfish categories are eligible for the Grand Slam prize and the highest scoring boat over all will be awarded Best Boat for 2011! And we are excited to announce that this year the event’s major sponsor is Yamaha Marelco!

While the boats are out, festivities will be happening all day long both Saturday & Sunday including the 10th Day Parade, the Rotary Club of Placencia’s Rubber Duck Race, Cake Walks, Cast Net Competition, Soldier Crab Races, the first ever Sunday Dinna’ Contest and much, much more. Any weekend is a good weekend to come to Placencia but the weekend of September 10th & 11th is a great weekend to come!

Preregistration for the Placencia Fishermen’s Day Saltwater Tournament is available from now until Wednesday September 7th. Register early and only pay $150 per boat, $50 per captain/angler and $35 per junior angler (16 & under). After the 7th registration is $175 per boat, $75 per captain/angler & $50 for junior anglers.

We will have our booth with Yamaha displays and we will also be offering a service campaign. Bring your outboard motors for a free service (minor repairs only).
