If they look like a bad guy, smell like a bad guy or even walk like a bad guy let the Police kick them out of town with prejudice.

Hey you should run in the up coming elections under the Nazi party. You wouldn't get any votes most likely, but I'd love to hear more Fascist ideas such as these.

Also interesting that you aren't wanting to help the greater good or suggest ideas to solve the problem, just get them outta my town and problem solved!

Thanks bywarren. You are right. I am on the side of the law. The police often disappoint, for they are only human too. But certainly this situation will be investigated and the police officers involved will be sanctioned if they are proven to have committed such abuse.

I see the daily frustrations of a society that is still trying to get things worked. And if nations such as the might USA, the UK or Mexico cannot manage to get a handle on drug abuse and neglect, domestic abuse, child pornographic, human trafficking, street gangs etc I do fear that our infant nation will be toiling for a few more decades to get it figure out.

Behavior, good or bad, loving or abusive, starts at home. Then it spills out onto our streets, into our schools and mingles in all walks of our society.

San Pedro is taking steps to combat the situations at the root. We finally have a community social worker, in conjunction with community police, the schools and private sector groups such as AA, and of course our religious organizations we will have to stop allowing our kids get led astray and wonder down the wrong paths.

The Fascist State of Belize:)we'll have to order some big boots for marching around in the coconut groves shouting 'Hail Victory mon'!The article above is highly exaggerated and written to stir the readers emotions and then aim those angry feelings at the opposition party for not doing something about it. Police in Belize and the world over get frustrated with the evil doers not getting punished and kick the #@$! out of them all the time, nothing new here at all.
Election time hyped news.

I spoke to some of the police officers - it seems that another inmate somehow took offense to something the guy did or said and there was a scuffle and the guy that is hurt took some kind of tumble that knocked him silly. But hey, I guess it is all hearsay.

Thanks Amanda: I sure hope that is the "other side of the story". I would hate to think the police would act in such a manner. Getting a reputation of police brutality could do great harm to the tourist industry for AC, along with less confidence and support of the local community. Well, with the exception of one loco person. And, that is not a typo error. smile

Ah, the old "slipped on soap" cover story. If this were true, was the other prisoner charged with causing grievous harm (assault/battery)?

What ever the true facts are there should at the least be an investigation by internal affairs and a report made public.
Wasn't there a recent statement made by the Minister of Police that there would be a such a method for the public to address police concerns such as this?

PS: found it: //ambergriscaye.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/413758/A_New_Way_To_Complain_About_Co.html#Post413758

I am sure that if somebody asked the journalists to look into the story it will get told.

I saw the "victim's" sister today and chatted a while and she didn't even mention the incident.

If somebody sees more FACTUAL reporting on this issue perhaps they could post. I don't plan to continue posting rumours, opinions and gossip.

The alleged victim, his sister or other family members owe it to the public to pursue this, especially since there is a way of doing so. Once public allegations of incriminating nature like this are made, the public has a right to know the facts. People need to be held accountable for their actions and people making allegations of this severe nature need to do more than just make claims. This is even more important when it involves government institution responsible for serving the public.

Don't worry, his family is not known to be shy - in fact some are very active politically - they know who to talk to and where to go for assistance in this matter.
