On Friday just before midday, Belize’s most wanted Taiwanese/Belizean, Kun Lin Lee who is locally called “Kevin Lee”, known for his “ no pain no gain” slogan, was deported to Belize escorted by US marshals. Lee covered his face from the cameras that awaited him at the Philip Goldson International Airport. After spending the weekend behind bars, this morning he was arraigned on a single charge of aggravated assault of an indecent nature before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer. According to the police, there are a number of other charges to be placed against the businessman. When he was read the single charge, Lee stood with his hands folded; eyes closed and hung his head as he prayed. A twenty-year-old woman is the first of hundreds of lee’s clients to claim that Lee touched her inappropriately back on April sixth. Lee asked for a translator saying he speaks mandarin and is not fluent in English. He also told the Senior Magistrate, that he is fearful of his life. She responded she was also concerned for his safety, but while he may not agree that prison is the safest place at this time, that’s just where she will remand him. The magistrate explained that given the publicity in his case, she wanted a cooling off period and ordered him to return to court on December twenty-first. The court prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the police investigation is ongoing and other charges are pending. Lee is also considered a flight risk since he had already absconded to Los Angeles prior to his deportation.
In late September, Lee fled the country after an unsuccessful blackmail attempt from one of the persons he had secretly video-taped. He was caught in Los Angeles in October through local and Interpol work and then returned to Belize last Friday.
There are hundreds of files that police have in their possession; it is expected that Lee will be taken to court for criminal and as well as civil action by many others. The Kevin Lee sex files are said to have been recorded over a number of years. Lee is a resident of Freetown Road where he operates as a massage therapist and acupuncturist. It’s a place that was visited by prominent figures and diplomats as well as foreign visitors who did not know of Lee’s despicable recordings.
67-year-old Chinese acupuncturist Kevin Lee who allegedly betrayed the trust of many of his female clients and was charged with aggravated assault on one of them was released on a bail of $10,000.00 today. Lee was offered bail on the condition that he surrender all of his travel documents and that he report to the Clerk of Court every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Lee was charged with aggravated assault on November 14, after he was brought back to Belize from the US. A 20-year-old woman reported to the police that Lee fondled her private parts on April 6 when she went to his clinic on Freetown Road.
The infamous masseuse, Kun Lin Lee, also known as “Kevin Lee,” was finally able to meet bail of $10,000 and is out of prison, just in time to bring in the New Year. You may remember Mr. Lee from a recent scandal, when law enforcement received a computer hard drive with thousands of files showing Lee’s clients getting undressed and receiving massages. Media reports have indicated that Lee was black mailed by a computer technician and because Lee did not or could not make the payments, that was when the files started to come to light. That was when Lee fled the country and was detained in Los Angeles and later deported to Belize, where he remained in police custody. Last week Wednesday, Lee, who appeared in Magistrate court for the second time on a single charge of aggravated assault of an indecent nature upon a 20-year-old woman was granted $10,000 bail, plus one or two sureties of $5,000. Lee met bail this morning and upon exiting the court he relayed a message to Belize. While his words sounded very much like a confession, Lee claimed he has asked God for forgiveness for what he has done. The words, which were scribbled on a white paper read, “I have confessed all my mistakes and fault to Jesus. I now believe in the salvation of Jesus Christ, and I will not do the mistake again. I will no longer do the things that are undesired by the Lord. I hope that you will become Christians too, so that you can receive his grace and mercy, that you can receive his blessings, and to have eternal life in Heaven.” With his release, Lee was ordered to surrender all travel documents, including his passport. Kevin Lee is due back in court on January 30.
