A ground breaking ceremony at the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center in Belize City today marked the official launch of several construction projects to take place. The projects will be done by the U.S. Military Liaison Office and funding for the projects, amounting to over BZ$1,000,000.00 is provided through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP).

I know that the Humanitarian Assistance program has an excellent track record in Belize at assisting much needed repairs, renovations and renovation of schools. We are one project in what is really over 1.3 million dollar investment in key projects in Belize. It includes construction of bathroom facilities at Hattiville Government School and Belize Rural High. It includes refurbishing of library and offices at Las Flores School, construction of recreation facilities at Julian Cho and this facility that you will be gifting us with here at the OCCC.

Projects include a refurbishment of a library and office at Las Flores School, Cayo; construction of a bathroom facility at Hattieville Government School; construction of a bathroom facility at Belize Rural High School; construction of a recreation facility/auditorium at Julian Cho School, Toledo; and construction of a family care building at the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center in Belize City.
