What's up with it? Seems to be running like a dog all over town.

Probably everyone is checking the storm reports... that will slow it down.

For the past three days I have been trying to download software updates for my Mac. I've tried at home and in three places in town offering internet access. Necessitates downloading about 650mb without a break, and so far it's failed every time. I also can't download any streaming video. I've never known the internet to be so bad for so long. Back in July/August it was flying.

I know what you mean, the speed fluctuates a lot and I don't get always my 1 MB download speed. While listening to European web radios, I'm mostly loose the connection after 1-2 hours and need to reconnect.


Its incredible what we pay for the internet here, with no guaranty on the service. In Mexico and Guatemala you have more reliability, high speed and lower cost.

It can also help for faster performance instead of using the slow default BTL DNS, use OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) or the Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

Thanks, I'll try them. I measured the speed a few days ago, and download speed was about 118k, on a connection that's supposed to be 1mb.

I just checked the speed again, and I'm getting 0.42 Mbps download and 2.35Mbps upload. Very odd.
