My math may be wrong but taking the express bus to Chetumal is $34 RT us, the water taxi to San Pedro or Caye Caulker is $50 RT us. I took a destination today and RT from LAX is $375us, RT to Belize I found $1.00 more at $617. So that is off in favor of Cancun about $150.
I have found no other fares that are close to your estimates.
However, for $150 difference and not allowing for food and time and perhaps the need for sleep and renting a Hotel, right now prices are a bit lower on RT to Belize so why bother with Cancun, we have at times saved over $500 each, but right now thats not happening. Still its bothersome how you get your Cancun pricing?

What are the dates you are traveling? Sometimes airfares can vary a lot from day to day.

We take the cost of the flight to Cancun including all taxes and fees plus $15 usd. for the shuttle from the Cancun airport to the ADO bus terminal plus $80 usd for the return ADO bus to Belize City. If you are going to Chetumal it will be less.
