The Sixth Annual Boat Parade was such a crazy success this year.  Lots of boats, TONS of people, booths with food and drink, marching bands, dancers, kids singing carols...everyone was enjoying one of the best parties of the year.

Look how happy we all are!

Let the parade begin! Barry raced out to a nearby dock to snap most of these shots, while I stayed and watched from Caliente's deck, and had a nice chat with a Canadian couple at the next table. We were impressed with the work that went into decorating these boats, and the pictures can't really do them justice.

What a great night, the boat parade was bigger and better than ever this year. We started our night at Exotic Caye/Crazy Canucks, perfect dock to watch the parade from and not super crowded. Ran into Scotty who is back on the island for a visit.

Afterwards we walked the beach to town for the after party and awards ceremony in the park. There were lots of booths this year and tons of people came out to celebrate.

It was the San Pedro AIDS Commission that captured the eye of the judges during the sixth annual San Pedro Holiday Lighted Boat Parade that took place on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Their decorated boat and high spirited staff was awarded the top prize of $1,500 during the holiday season celebration as 12 other boats decorated the night with vivid lights and cheerful spirits.

Ambergris Today once again had the pleasure of being along with the judges and sharing with them a close up look at the parade. The judges were hosted by Lady Dixie Bowen who allowed the parade committee to use her pier for viewing and judging. The judges were caught in the rain a couple of times, but that did not stop the fun.
