Melanie Paz is running for Mayor of San Pedro as an independent. I had a nice chat with her the other evening and like what she had to say; "I'm not Red and I'm not blue." Holding her hands up she demonstrated the overlap which becomes purple. So, that's what all those purple and white flags are about!
I got mine; one for the golf cart and one for the entry gate at Birdland.
She said she will not accept any donations from resorts of developers and has developed a very low budget campaign.
I found the article where all local candidates voiced in on the town clock most interesting. Every one of them (only one is a gringo) was against the placement and the electronic screens.
This is going to be an exciting time.

I think she would be the first mayor with a degree in business administration.
but that's not why I'm voting for her. I'm voting for her because she kicks ass and takes names!
I watched her manage a dive shop full of wild local fishermen and divemasters and was able to have them sit up straight and pay attention on demand. She could handle the town board and a gang of renegade developers with one hand tied behind her back.

And, she doesn't want the clock in the middle of Front Street, and doesn't like the Jumbotron Billboards!

Good Luck Melanie, Even though I have not earned the right to vote in Belize as of yet. I have had first hand experience working with Melanie in a community service environment. I believe she's an excellent candidate with multi-faceted talents and San Pedro would do well to have her as a leader.

A small donation from those of us not representing resorts or developers might help her along! A worthwhile cause given she wants to represent everyone on the island!

Not only will she represent everyone on the island, but will be great for those of us that visit. Maybe I should make a donation to her cause. I've known Melanie for many many years. She's the real deal.
