If you can afford to come here from Canada/US/England/ Italy/Germany, stay in a $200+ per night accommodation and go diving every other day, why on earth are you nickle and dimeing and bartering with the locals over $5 cab rides, water taxi fares and/or a slight additional charges to pick you up or drop you off at your pier 4 miles south of town. Gas is outrageously expensive in San Pedro! Give your head a shake!

Hon, good rant, and totally accurate. I don't believe in taking advantage of the locals any more than I believe in the locals fleecing the tourists. Also, thanks for pointing out that it isn't only the ugly Americans, there are uglies from everywhere.

I've had visiting divers staying at one of the most expensive hotels here who refused to pay US$10 per tank for nitrox. They did 10 dives in the week so refused to pay US$100 - and complained the entire week about the short bottom times they were getting. There's now't so strange as folks.

Angel at the post office told me that a group if people from Europe (I won't mention which country) tried to negotiate the price of a postage stamp!

I think if I made it there, I can afford the day to day costs.
