Ramir Villanueva, son of Mrs. Elvira and Mr. Alberto Villanueva Sr., has been endorsed to represent the Belize Rural South Division in the upcoming elections for Officers for the Belize Youth Movement. The Belize Youth Movement is the Youth Arm of the People’s United Party (PUP), the oldest and greatest political party in Belize. The Belize Youth Movement shall comprise the youth members of the P.U.P, organized on a constituency basis.

Functions of the Belize Youth Movement:

The activities of the BYM shall be aimed at preparing the youth members for working towards the fulfillment of the aims and objects of the P.U.P, as defined in Article 2 of the Constitution and at promoting political, educational, cultural and sporting activities amongst its members.

The Belize Youth Movement also plays a significant role in addressing the social ills affecting our young people of Belize.

Membership:

The National Executive of the BYM consists of: a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, a Treasurer, a Chief of Staff, a Public Relations Officer, and one member from each district of Belize (Total 13), and meets at least once every three months.

Role of the Belize Youth Movement:

The National Executive of the BYM shall:

  1. Convene the annual conference,
  2. Be responsible for guiding and coordinating the functions of the respective constituency chapters,
  3. Draw up an annual program for consideration of the Annual Conference and approval of the National Council,
  4. Submit a quarterly report of its activities to the National Executive.

Ramir is however, asking the support of our Caye Caulker people to vote for him as he is running for the post of National Vice-President. His aim is to work with our Caye Caulker Youth and being a role model in the community.

Ramir was recently appointed as Ocean Academy’s Student Council President, which he undertook and accepted with pleasure and pride. He plans to work hand in hand with students in activities being planned throughout the year.
