Tropic Air announces Orange Walk flights

Press Release – Tropic Air – Monday, November 14, 2011- On Monday, November 14, 2011, Tropic Air announced that it would be inaugurating twice daily non-stop service between San Pedro and the Orange Walk Town’s Tower Hill Airstrip, on December 15, 2011. With the launching of this service and the opening of its new station there, Tropic Air will now be the only airline in Belize to operate scheduled flights to ALL six districts.

The new service is a direct response to requests from its valued customers, and carries through on the airline’s stated commitment to the people of Belize. It will not only serve to make travel between San Pedro and Orange Walk easier, but will allow for the expansion of tourism into the Orange Walk District.

“When we expanded Belmopan and launched Guatemala City this year, we also promised that we would keep growing. This fulfills that promise, and now we promise that there is even more to come. Orange Walk (Tower Hill) is an integral part of the growth strategy for Tropic Air and as such we feel it important that we link the expanding areas of the sugar belt with our home in San Pedro” said John Greif III, President of Tropic Air. “We are continuously seeking new and innovative routes that promote tourism, business, domestic travel and cargo within Belize. Orange Walk is just such a destination for the Airline of Belize”

The schedule for flights for the new route is as follows

San Pedro (SPR) 08:00AM (Departs) ~ Orange Walk (TWH) 08:20AM (Arrives)
Orange Walk (TWH) 08:30AM (Departs) ~ San Pedro (SPR) 08:50AM (Arrives)
San Pedro (SPR) 1:30PM (Departs) ~ Orange Walk (TWH) 1:50PM (Arrives)
Orange Walk (TWH) 2:00PM (Departs) ~ San Pedro (SPR) 2:20PM (Arrives)

The new service is bookable via the web at www.tropicair.com, via e-mail at reservations@tropicair.com, by phone at 226-2012, by contacting any of our stations, or by contacting our authorized sales office in Orange Walk Town.

Tropic Air operates a fleet of 11 aircraft (including the latest generation, G1000 “glass cockpit”, air conditioned Cessna Caravans) to 13 destinations in Belize and Guatemala. This Wednesday, November 15th, Tropic will take delivery of two new Caravans from Cessna Aircraft. With over 250 employees, Tropic Air will carry over 220,000 passengers in 2011.

Today, Tropic Air celebrated the arrival of two new Cessna Caravans in Belize at the company headquarters in San Pedro. Ambergris Today had the privilege of taking a close look at the new Caravans at the John Greif II this morning. The aircrafts were flown in directly from Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas after the official handing over ceremonies there on November 15, 2011.

Each new Caravan 208 represents an investment in the growth of tourism in the region and costs over US$2 million (over $4 million total). The G1000 "glass cockpit" equipped aircraft each seat 14 passengers plus crew and have air conditioning. The aircraft are also equipped with a STOL (Short Takeoff or Landing) Kit, weather radar and a terrain avoidance system for improved safety and better performance in all operating conditions.
