San Pedro loves a good party and a good holiday. And today is Township Day. Celebrated each November 27th, it commemorates that date in 1984 when San Pedro officially became a town. Not to be confused with San Pedro Day which takes place in June to celebrate the first families moving to Ambergris Caye to escape the Caste War in Mexico in the mid 1800s.

9am. Central Park. 5K Run/Walk with all proceeds going to Mama Vilma's Family Home. (They will probably enjoy the cooler weather)

3.30pm. Some sort of ceremony to inaugurate the newly paved road north of town. Parade begins in the Boca Del Rio Area. And goes around the main streets. (Curious to see what happens at the clock tower - it will be our first real test).

Evening/Night: Concert with Supa G (he is SO FUN live), San Pedro Dance Company and More. FIREWORKS!

November 27th is the official date of celebration for San Pedro's Township Anniversary. 2011 marks 27 years since San Pedro was declared a town, and to mark this occasion, a fun parade was held starting on the newly inaugurated Laguna Drive all the way to Central Park.

The day included two momentous occasions, including the official opening ceremonies for the inauguration of the recently completed Laguna Drive, and the renaming of the Boca Del Rio bridge to the Sir Barry Bowen Bridge.

The 27th anniversary of San Pedro's declaration of township was celebrated this past Sunday, November 27, 2011, Township Day. To commemorate the day the San Pedro Town Council put together some activities to celebrate.

First on the itinerary was the inauguration of Lagoon Drive; the paving of the stretch of road from the San Juan Roundabout to the bridge at Boca del Rio was just completed a few days ago. The Town Council wanted to boast new and better conditions on the road that connects San Pedro Town to North Ambergris Caye, through the bridge. Residents and tourists can now enjoy the improved condition of the street.
