It's time for honest law-abiding citizens to write to the Minister of National Security and tell him we want the acting Commisioner to process the gun licences the Jerfferies has held back, so that we can defend our selves from the criminals. I'll even buy him a pen since Jefferies seems to have lost them all.
Well, all I have to say is... rather be safe, and then sorry to have broken a law concerning possession. I'd take my chances in the Belize Supreme Court if I was unfortunately put in the position of having to save my life with an 'illegal' firearm, of whatever description.
It's not the Supreme Court you have to worry about it's sitting in Hattieville until you can get a court date which could be weeks even if you have a good lawyer. If you don't it could be months. No bail means no bail and they enforce it now.
I will only carry weapons legally. In this country if you don't have a license, even having one bullet even without a gun takes you immediately to jail. That's why I think the restrictions on honest folks having more than a single shot shotgun is absurd. The bad guyss don't care because they are going to break the law anyway and they KNOW that very few of the good guys are armed and can fiht back. It is a totally backward situation.
