Getting Married in San Pedro?
|
|
Hello, I am new to this forum. I spent a couple weeks in San Pedro, Caulker, Belize city and Guatemala early this year. After these travels my fiance and I have decided Ambergris Caye is where we want to have our wedding.
Does any body have any suggestions on a place to have a short ceremony? We are planning this by ourselves. There will be about 15-20 guests from the US. We don't want to spend a fortune on the ceremony.
So, who has been to a Belizean wedding? Any help with flowers, photography, do's and dont's, etc. would be much appreciated! Also can anybody suggest lodging that is middle of the road, price-wise. Thank you very much.

My wife and I just got married there on November 17th. Talk to Ruth at Caribbean Villas, she handled everything with the wedding (flowers, cake, etc) for us, and it was phenomenal. For photography, Colette at Conch Creative, they are awesome! Colette frequents this forum sometimes. I'd be happy to answer questions about our experience, just PM me.

Caribbean Villas would be awesome. Or a private house? I just helped out at a wedding down there and it was AMAZING. Check out idobelizeweddings.com. And Conch Creative was taking pics at this wedding...they are awesome.

Yes I think we will definitely be renting a private house for at least a reception/party post wedding. Any ideas for house properties?

Hi Gout,
I'm one half of Conch Creative. Thanks guys for the nice words above. We love what we do!
There are so many properties to suit any tastes, I can only suggest you look through the private villas section of this website and see what suits your needs and location.
If you are budget minded, may I suggest that you might like to be closer to town so that you don't have to spend much on travel. On the other hand, if you plan to spend your time lying on our beautiful beaches, reading books and enjoying the view, then a villa further south or north might suit you too.
There are a number of excellent photography services on the island, which is very lucky for destination wedding couples as there is a choice in terms of personal style.
The best advice I can give you is to have your wedding later in the afternoon as that is when the light is best on the Caribbean side. You won't be too hot, sweaty or squinting in your photographs either.
Also, make sure to have a plan B. We've been very lucky never to have had a wedding rained out, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
And have colour. Plenty of colour always looks wonderful at beach weddings. If you have any other questions, please do feel free to get in touch.

Not sure your exact dates or number of people but we have hosted weddings such as yours at Solaria Villas in the past and everyone seemed to be very happy with the location and the villas. Yes, I own one of the villas so I am biased but I would be happy to put you in touch with our rental agent and they can handle all the details for you including the wedding arrangements. http://www.solariabelize.com/

Look at Los Encantos. Many weddings and honeymoons have been arranged there. There are four villas in a group so that no one is on top of anyone else. You also have a private pool for the four villas. It is very close to Rojo and Mambo, which are excellent restaurants, or there are several private caterers as well.
I second Conch Creative having worked with them. Maya and Colette are a dream to work with, talking from personal experience.
No matter where you go, use Conch Creative and you won't be sorry.

We were married in December in San Pedro. We used Conch Creative for the photography and Barbara Brown from the Candle Garden for the flowers. They were both great to work with and I'd highly recommend both.

Contact Keli Engleson of idobelizeweddings.com - she is fantastic. She has many different packages you can choose from to make a very nice and simplistic wedding. Our wedding pictures were taken by a lady named Roannie who works at Belicolor. She, her husband, Roy, and their daughter are all wonderful photographers. We had our wedding at Los Encantos (stayed in Villa del Sol). It is a nice area North, very quiet and tranquil. Did our wedding under the palapa which was nicely decorated at Los Encantos. It was majestic walking down the dock and seeing the Caribbean waters. With that said, we now have a home in Belize. There is so much to choose from and many nice resorts that have coordinators on staff. Portifinos is a beautiful resort and I believe they do many weddings there, also have some fine dining on site. There are also beautiful resorts on the south end of the island as well. Victoria House is lovely, but might be a bit pricey based on the description of what you want. If you are looking for a private home, you can check the listings at www.vrbo.com as many of the owners do rent their home out. Hope this helps, lots of great suggestions that have been posted. Whatever you decide, enjoy Belize.

We had an amazing experience with I Do Belize Weddings! We still can't stop talking about how wonderful everything was. We came to Belize via cruise ship for one day and married at the Mayan ruins. We were greeted at the pier and whisked off on an amazing adventure. Keli worked very hard to make sure all of the arrangements were well organized and special for us. Evelyn also made everything perfect: from the flower arrangements, to the location, gorgeous ceremony, to the coordination. I still can't believe that it was Our Wedding. It was truly something right out of a fairy tale. I was so nervous at first. Once we started working with Keli and once we arrived, everyone put us right at ease and we were able to leave everything to them and just enjoy. I must add that our guide was a great addition to our little group. He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful that by the end of the day, we considered him part of our wedding. Thank you to everyone at I Do Belize Weddings for making Our Day one of a kind. Brandy & Steve

We just got married in December and chose I Do Belize weddings. Our wedding was beautiful thanks to Kelli, the owner of the company and her assistant Ari. It was great knowing that we were having our wedding organized by the owner of the company. She has worked with many vendors on the island, and planned the wedding the way we wanted it. They are both organized and gave our wedding the personal touches we wanted. There was very little I needed to do, and I never worried about any of the planning. I highly recommend this company.
We were married at Caribbean Villas- just south of the town. Perfect location- on the beach and next to a nature reserve. We then had two locations to choose from. The owners were so excited about our wedding, the took pictures for us, gave us a bottle of champagne, and we found flowers and swan towels in our room the day of our wedding. Free bike rental, pool, 2 hot tubs, private patio looking out on the beach, and close location to San Pedro- you cannot beat it! They are the most reasonable in price according to my research. The kitchen in our 1 bedroom was an extra plus.

We got married in Ambergris Caye this past July. We worked with I Do Belize as our wedding planner and had a great experience! Keli and Ari were helpful with all the details of planning the wedding AND the trip. We didn't have to worry about a thing. All the details were taken care of with ease. We had 30 people travel with us and stayed at Captain Morgan's Retreat. All the staff was wonderful during the whole stay and everything was a breeze. They set up a Welcome Party for all of our guests as well as the dinner after the wedding. The location was great to get into town. The beach was perfect and right off the deck where we had our reception. I totally recommend it. The condos are especially amazing. We got a 3 bedroom condo for our wedding party to share with us and it was the perfect size for everyone to hang out. The villas are a little older and the thatched roofs make the rooms a little warmer...but if its not July it probably wouldn't be a problem. I don't recommend July...it was HOT and the mosquitos were attacking....but we still had an amazing experience thanks to I Do Belize Weddings and Captain Morgans Retreat!
