SAN PEDRANO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN ‘S HOME
The Liberty Children’s Home in Ladyville is the recipient of some much needed assistance from a group in San Pedro Town.
Maria Novelo reporting…
“On Sunday the expression on the faces of the children from the Liberty Children’s Home was priceless and while they were frolicking in the sun jump roping and blowing bubbles the adults were busy fund raising for the organization. Peter Laurence proprietor of Pedro’s Inn and organizer of the event told Love News that they are giving back to the children.

“Well couple of years we did the same thing and last year they had Michael Ashcroft to raise a lot of money for them at a ball in London and so we thought we had a lot of money last year, so this year we heard through the grapevine that they were having problems with the electricity bills so we said fine we will do it again, we will do it again next year as well.”
Director of the Liberty Children’s Home is Delfina Mitchell who told us that the event is more than just fund raiser but one that provided the children with a visit to the island they will soon not forget.

“Last year they did a jump a ton for us a fund raiser they raised I believed it was $18,000.00 and this year they are doing it again and we are much appreciative of it because we really needed the money. Liberty is an organization that relies heavily on donation and at this time it really not coming in so we have to do things to cut down on expenses and we need all the help that we can. Peter Lawrence sent a boat to Vista Del Mar to pick us up the our House, Marina we got on the boat and they drove us out here in the view we saw the beautiful blue green sea the beautiful sun it was just really nice, and they didn’t not just for the children but the care givers, the people who are working with the children which for me it is very special because a lot of time people tend to forget the people who are behind the scene doing the work.”
The event drew a crowd of expatriates, visiting tourists and also had the support from the locals. Silent auction and bids were conducted throughout the day. “

Next year we can get more people to come down, the more people to come down, the more money we raise. We don’t ask for donations, what we do is we have a silent auction, we have raffles, everybody buys everybody wins.”
Lawrence stated the goal of the event was to raise a little over $13,000.00 which they did. All the proceed goes towards the children of Liberty Children Home.
