Earlier this week we reported on the seizure of a hundred and eleven bricks of cocaine which were subsequently destroyed by authorities. The person found with those drugs was a Mexican national, Martin Rafael Urias. The drugs were found in a hidden compartment of the vehicle Urias was driving. A team of law enforcement officers have recently been deployed to the Belize/Mexico Border where they underwent training with the Drug Enforcement Agency on the proper execution of a vehicle search. It slowed traffic down a bit as those on training searched vehicles thoroughly. When Uriasí vehicle was initially checked it had turned up clean, but police searched again more intensely because of Uriasí suspicious behaviour when he saw the checkpoint. That is when police found the almost 300 pounds of cocaine valued at an estimated two million dollars.
