The House of Representatives meets this Friday in Belmopan. And before you start speculating that the date for general elections will be announced, we can say that we are satisfied that you won’t hear that on Friday. It will, however, be the first time that Francis Fonseca will lead the parliamentary opposition in the House and we suspect that the Prime Minister may be less than generous on Fonseca as he takes his place as opposition leader. In respect of Friday’s sitting, the agenda looks insipid. Two new bills will be introduced for a first reading, including one on environmental tax and another will be tabled for a second reading. Reports from committees will also be presented as well as write off motions will be dealt with. One more thing, the House normally sits before the Christmas so that the upcoming sitting is not out of the ordinary.
