The Sun Came Out For a Trip To Mathieu's Deli

The sun has been hiding for far too long (2 or 3 days is a long time in the tropics!) but yesterday turned into a gorgeous day and I took a walk to Mathieu's Deli.

Mmmmm....freshly baked baguettes and a wheat bread with lavender. The wheat was particularly good and you could totally taste the floral lavender flavor.

They have a great breakfast menu and then serve lunch. A few choices of sandwiches on the yummy fresh bread and daily specials. Yesterday was salmon ravioli with celery sauce, pork loin and Belizean duck! Fancy and all less money than the pasta with tomato sauce special at the town's newest Italian place.

We also have a new bread to add for the Christmas season - Chef Gunter has used the new Sorrel Stout from Belikin for a rich festive wholewheat with light overtones of cardamom and spice, perfect with salted butter, with a salad, or with a good strong cheese (though try the dark rye with Blue cheese....)

We had heard about Mathieu's from the trip advisor website and based on their reviews, we chose to visit their facebook page. The pictures and menu alone were enough to bring us to Mathieu's for the most phenomenal lunch my partner and I have ever had. I had the beef stroganoff special and my girlfriend had the sea bass special. Both were excellent and worth every penny albeit the meals were extremely affordable. As a small business owner myself, I feel it is important to recognize those establishments that go above and beyond to provide their customers with a wonderful experience, especially when the prices are reasonable and the service exceptional. I hope to be back again soon!
