According to information received yesterday from newly elected Premier League President Jaime “Myito” Perdomo, Jr., the League, including the Executive and member clubs, met on Saturday, January 7, in Belmopan at the E & J Sports Bar, better known as the “Little Cabana”, and formulated plans for kick-off of its first season as early as next month.

The 12 clubs in the Premier League have been divided into two zones, North and South, for the competition, with their relative home field venues and game times as follows:

North Zone/Zone 1 - (1) Juventus (O.W. People’s Stadium or Louisiana Field, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (2) San Felipe Barcelona (O.W. People’s Stadium or Louisiana Field, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (3) FC Belize (MCC Grounds, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (4) San Pedro Seadogs (MCC Grounds, Sunday, 3:30 p.m.); (5) BDF (Broaster Stadium, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (6) World FC (Broaster Stadium, Saturday, 7:30 p.m. if lights are repaired; if not, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.).   

South Zone/Zone 2 - (1) Placencia Assassins FC (Placencia Football Field, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (2) Paradise Freedom Fighters (Toledo Union Field, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (3) Police (Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan or Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga, both at 4:00 p.m.); (4) San Ignacio United FC (Broaster Stadium, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (5) Verdes Benque (Marshalleck Stadium, Sunday, 4:00 p.m.); (6) Bandits Football Sporting Club (Isidoro Beaton Stadium, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.)

The tentative start date of the Premier League’s 2012 Opening Season is the weekend of February 4-5, and it should be finished by May 15, in order to meet the FIFA requirement so that the champion club can participate in the international tournament at that time.
