In this case, think of the geography. Why would Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands be exempt?

Methinks the warning was poorly worded.

I worry about Tsunami's as much as the New Ice Age!
I wish people would not post BS like this on the message board.
People around San Pedro will be driving around in their golfcarts wearing lifevest looking for high ground.

We are 10,000km away and the Shetland Islands have South America between us and them! Fact check before posting these type of alerts please!

The next time we have a quake here in SoCal I'll call you guys and send out a warning.

One can never be too prepared...

Yeah I thought the Shtlands were in Scotland. But I wondered if the Scots had conquered something while I wasn't paying attention.

It never hurts to post info. Sometimes it is relative, sometimes not, but I thought everyone was always complaining that not enough info is dispersed here.

You just can't win.

Yeah no doubt Elbert. I wonder if Dr Brown is going to mind terribly that I parked on top of the main mound at Marcos Gonzales...

Well now I'm thoroughly chagrined (yes Amanda they are). I feel as if I have betrayed my Robertson roots. I must commit Scottish Sepuku...(I'll let you know what that is as soon as I figure that out myself...)

Thanks Simon. Now that makes more sense. The islands are in the Antarctic and so possible action to the Caribbean sea makes a tad more sense.

Glad we have all learned something on a Sunday afternoon!

Bear, close your eyes, slug down a shot of tequila, spin around 3 times, click your heels, then you will be a tad closer to the south Shetland islands!

I read it on the internet, so I know it is true.

How the hell can there be a tsunami watch for Ewa Beach, my old hometown on Oahu, in the Pacific, with a huge continent between there and here. With a warning attached for the Caribbean... Someone please explain this to me!!! Unless its passing through the Panama Canal..

Glad the tsunami isn't coming anywhere close to Belize.

Warnings are important though. When the big quake hit Japan last year, they casually warned west coast US - but it hit harder than we expected.

Cooper! Been there done that question smile! Amanda and Simon got me straightened out after a pretty funny exchange on the Ambergris board..its the SOUTH Shetlands off Antarctica, which have at least a shot of causing a tsunami in the Caribbean basin if the quake were big enough, which this one was not....

I have been remanded to remedial geography class and a refresher in reading comprehension as a result of my gaffs...Amanda was also kind enough to offer one of her old family remedies to reorient and recalibrate myself but its a tad too early in the day to use...

Ok!! Does also whispering the phrase " There is no place like Nome* " each time I spin and click make the spell more effective?

*another geography lesson for another day!
