If taking a land taxi to a place north of the bridge, what is the crossing fee? Would it be better/cheaper to take a water taxi? I'm realizing there are several interesting restaurants north of the bridge we want to check out for dinner but we weren't planning on renting a golf cart for the entire week.

Not sure on the details you seek, but Portofino & Mata Chica have complimentary boats for dining guests ( and land taxis don't get that far north).

The water taxi is $5 from the main San Pedro dock up to Grand Caribe dock (from there you can quickly walk to Aji) or $6 to Capricorn. Price goes up the farther north you're going.

Don't know the land taxi rate, but it's definitely higher.

Sorry! We'll be at Pelican Reef Villas, about three miles south of town. Will the water taxis pick us up and take us to Palapa Bar (for example)? Or do we have to get to town first, then take the water taxi?

Rent a cart for a day and explore the island. You won't regret it.

Yes, we plan to do that. I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to get to restaurants for lunch and dinner without having to rent a golf cart for an entire week.

A lot of the restaurants provide free transportation to their restaurants with reservations whether it's water taxi or regular taxi. You have a wide range of restaurants south of town which wouldn't cost much by taxi from your location. Bicycles are always an option, too.
