Belize excels on TripAdvisor’s 2012 Traveler’s Choice Awards

The Tourism Industry in Belize has much to be proud of this early in the year. TripAdvisor® has released their Travelers’ Choice Top Lists for 2012 and Belize’s performance has been outstanding. Taking the top slot is The Phoenix Resort in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye which was named #1 of the top 25 Hotels in the World. That’s right, WORLD. Belize has two resorts in this list, with Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort taking the #3 spot.

We spoke to the Managers at The Phoenix, who were very thankful for the honor. “We are grateful to be recognized by our guests and TripAdvisor®. We want to thank our many guests for their feedback and support and our amazing staff, whose terrific customer service led to this award. We’re honored to be in such great company with other resorts in the country whom we admire and respect, and we look forward to the additional exposure this award will bring to Belize,” stated Mark Maggiotto and Stacy Chesnick.

Another island hotel that received top honors was Xanadu Resort, which was named #3 in the top 25 Hotels in Central and South America. In that same list, Belize took 11 spots, with The Phoenix at #1, Hamanasi at #2, Coco Plum Caye Resort at #5, Turneffe Island Resort #7, Victoria House #10, Belcampo Lodge #13, Las Terrazas #20, Chaa Creek #23, Matachica Beach Resort #24, and Grand Caribe #25. San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, was named one of the Top 25 destinations in Central and South America, and has the honor of being in the Top 10 beaches in Central and South America as well.

A second round of debate is scheduled for February 13th.

San Pedro Tops Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2012

There are many Hotel/Resorts on the island that are known for their great services, great spas and other great commodities and it is good to know when they are recognized internationally and awarded for all their hard work.

Several top island resorts from Ambergris Caye, along with other resorts in Belize, have made it on the list of Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Hotel Awards 2012. One of the highest recognitions went to the Phoenix Resort (pictured above) in San Pedro Town which was ranked the number one resort in the category of Top 25 Hotels in the World; this is definitely a great recognition for the resort, San Pedro and Belize. Xanadu Island Resort in San Pedro was ranked third in the Top 25 Hotels in Central America category.

Phoenix Resort In San Pedro: Best Hotel In The World

When it comes to ratings for the best hotels in the World, millions of travelers look to the internationally recognized and respected internet travel guide leader, Trip Advisor. When one thinks of luxurious top of the line hotels, what comes to mind are the Diamond rated hotels of Las Vegas, the Five Thousand dollar a night hotels in romantic Paris and Monaco, or a little closer to home, the 5 star mega-hotels of Cancun and Acapulco.

Well, the word is out, and the myth has been dispelled. There's a new World order when it comes to the Creme de la Creme of World class hotels. And guess where the number one hotel in the World is? Well, according to Trip Advisor, the overall best hotel in the World is located right in our own backyard. Yes, The Phoenix Resort located in San Pedro has received the Traveler's Choice 2012 Award, as "The Best Overall Hotel in the World." According to them, the Phoenix has "The best of both worlds: island life and modern conveniences; including an exceptionally clean property, perfect location, and superb staff."

Stacey Chesnick, one of the Managers at the Phoenix told Seven News this evening by telephone that they are delighted at the news, and already, the phones are ringing off the hook with inquiries. Chesnick says it's also great news for Belize, because of what it means in terms of international publicity. It's the resort's first major international award, and she believes their proactive approach to customer service, personal attention to details, and delivery of memorable service are key to becoming the World's Best Hotel. The full service resort is located in San Pedro Town and boasts a total of 30 luxury condo units.

Belize Dominates Trip Advisor’s Top 25

Last night we told you about Trip Advisor's "2012 Best Overall Hotel In The World" - Belize's own Phoenix Resort located in San Pedro. But what we didn't tell you was that this wasn't the only spot secured on the world's top 25 list; Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, located in Hopkins, captured the #3 spot, making it the third best overall hotel in the world - and giving Belize two of the top three spots.

It was described simply as "blissful" with 21 rooms and located on hundreds of feet of beautiful beach, offering both rainforest and beach adventures. If these awards weren't enough, in the list of Top 25 hotels in Central America, Belize captured an incredible 11 awards, 6 of which were in the top 10, helping to make this little jewel truly shine.

The Phoenix Resort in San Pedro and the Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort in Hopkins received the top two awards for Central America, but the Xanadu Island Resort Belize, also in San Pedro, followed right behind as #3, being described as having "great rooms and excellent staff". Coco Plum Island Resort located in Dangriga came in at #5, and Turneffe Island Resort closely followed at #7, two spots below that was Victoria House located in San Pedro, Belize, Then Belcampo Lodge in Punta Gorda secured #13, with Las Terazzas Resort in San Pedro, The Lodge at Chaa Creek in San Ignacio, Matachica Beach Resort in San Pedro, and Grand Caribe Belize Resort and Condominiums in Ambergris Caye, receiving numbers 20, 23, 24, and 25, respectively.

Now, we note that there are all kinds of tops 25 lists, but Trip Advisor is considered the most influential in helping travelers make decisions and the top spot is highly coveted.
