Hello all,

If this has already been discussed at length on this forum please provide the proper link; I couldn't find anything short of looking through the 86 pages of posts.

My questions are:

1. What companies are the best providers?
2. What do they charge per month and what is covered in each amount you can pay per month?
3. Any other recommendations regarding health insurance?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps there are 86 pages as it is often discussed?

Question #1 - IMHO, BUPA is the "best" for ex-pat coverage. It is designed for Ex-pats with coverage both inside the country of residence and in the US and other nearby countries.

To answer question #2 you may wish to access the website for BUPA and read the policy coverage offerings. Costs vary greatly by age. You can choose a variety of deductibles. It also offers a good air-ambulance provision.

Question #3 - BUPA has regional offices in Miami and has a bi-lingual staff.

1. We use RF&G here in Belize - they have a worldwide coverage plan or if you want a cheaper option they also have a Guatemala/Belize/Mexico plan.

2. As with BUPA and everyone else, prices vary by age, sex and medical history. For a 49 year old female, non-smoker in good health I can tell you it is about $2500bz/year for the worldwide plan. Slightly less for men.

3. It does not cover dental but includes life insurance in case of accidental death.

Gecko, I checked out BUPA today and it was over 20,000 US for me a 59 year old woman. So I just ran a quote for 49 year old nonsmoker and it was 5259 US, which is way above the 2500Bz you quoted. Does it get a lot cheaper if you get your bid from a BUPA broker in Belize?

Take a look at the various deductibles - the numbers you are getting look super-high compared to my own experience .... or could be that you're being charged substantially more as a smoker?

The quote for $20,000 --- we've never paid even half that for two non-smoking people considerably older than your good self.

Okay, got several other quotes that were much less. The 20,000 US was on the BUPA site and there were no qualifiers except for age, so the smoking and health didn't come into play. Thanks for the advice.
