The Central Region Secondary Schools Softball Competition opened on Monday February 6, 2012, at Rogers Stadium.

The schools that are competing in this year’s girls’ competition are: Anglican Cathedral College, Gwen Lizarraga High School, Ladyville Technical High School, Nazarene High School, St. Catherine Academy and Wesley College. Meanwhile, the schools in the boys’ competition are Anglican Cathedral College, Excelsior High School, Gwen Lizarraga High School, St. John’s College and Wesley College.

In the first girls’ game of the competition, Nazarene High School defeated Ladyville Technical High School by the score of 4-1. The winning pitcher was Ashley Lucas and the losing pitcher was Rebecca Nicholson.

In the boys’ game, St. John’s College won handily over Wesley College by the score of 14-2. The winning pitcher was Myric Marin and the losing pitcher was Eugene Rowley.

The competition will continue on Thursday February 9 with one game in the male competition between Anglican Cathedral College and Gwen Lizarraga High School.
