you cannot just go there and get a job..it's MUCH more complicated than that! Work permits are hard to come by and have many restrictions!! (are you a millionaire?) you can buy an existing business and APPLY for self employment permit? Heck, if it were that easy, we'd been there years ago!!!

Just wanted to pipe in that RickCheri is right, but don't give up. I am moving to San Pedro for a year after a lot of planning/plotting. My advice would just be to save up as much money as you can and live off that. Maybe something will come up once you are there? You never know.

Hate to rain on your parade, but Belize is an economically struggling country with many young people in need of employment to support themselves and their families. Many of these young people have, at great sacrifice to themselves and their families, worked hard to obtain an education either in Belize or abroad. Others have stayed in Belize, working in their families' businesses, sometimes holding down two or more jobs to make ends meet.
You should not expect to be able to take the job that a Belizean citizen needs to feed his or her family, make the mortgage payments (if lucky enough to own a home) and save a little for the future.
If you want to live in a developing country, you need to pay your own way. Paying your own way does not mean taking a Belizean's job. (And any job that you would be qualified to do is a job that a Belizean would be at least as qualified to do.) Paying your own way means bringing your own money to live on or better yet, investing money that will enable you to create jobs for the people of the country in which you want to live.
